I make a pot of breakfast on Christmas morning.?
the instructions say to fry the sausage, green peppers and onions before to put it in the crock pot. I would like to add mushrooms to the casserole, but I do not know if I have to cook with the sausage mixture, or simply put them in RAW. I thought they would make the dish too watery if I put them in RAW. What do you guys think?
Sauté the mushrooms with the mixture sausage. They will take on the flavor of things, they are sauteed with and you're right. Mushrooms are about 99% water and can add moisture too much of a recipe if it is not pre-cooked. It looks like a good casserole. Any chance you can send me an e-mail the recipe?.
