During autumn and winter, I enjoy making hearty soups and stews in my slow cooker for my family. I like that I can spend a few minutes in the morning to prepare it, put it in the crock pot and walk away … few hours later, our dinner is hot and ready to enjoy.
The following recipe was given to me by the aunt of my grandfather 83 years ago about 25 years. To this day I still do for my family. If you do not like okra, you can certainly omit it from the recipe. At times, I actually replaced the okra with fresh green beans or green peas, and stew is delicious.
