
Another question about the chicken and (especially) the rice soup?
I have a recipe for quality chicken and rice soup in the crockpot which is a quantity to last a couple days. Recipe calls for "raw rice" which is not sold locally. I normally slow cooker broth soup and vegetables for 6-8 hours and add converted rice for the next 2 hours. Tastes first time around a large, but the rice in the left part of the soup becomes soggy fast. As far as the rice goes, this is a good substitute for raw rice? Rice Uncle Ben's converted is what I use with soggy results. Saw a review raw rice was the same as converted rice. Is it? You do not want to bother with the idea of cooking the rice and soup separately and then adding one or two tablespoons of rice to the broth just before serving. Is there a rice that can withstand one or two days in broth without being soggy?. Reason I ask is this is for elderly in-laws are not something more than food warm in the microwave. . Your suggestions would be really appreciated. Regards – Lynn
For the recipe uncooked rice rice dry and not instantly go to your grocery store and get a bag of long grain rice that says and you're good to go
