can i put a ham bone in with dried split peas to make soup in a crockpot without softening the peas first?
i already used the ham bone from christmas dinner ham in a pot of beans, but i have tons of left over ham to put in a pea soup! yummm!!! and yes you should put it in along with the dried peas. YES the ham bone is “cooked” that’s not the point, the point is that you want all that flavor to be incorporated into the pea soup all day while it simmers. the soup is not to warm the ham bone, it’s to MARRY IT!! lol
