Making baby food in a crockpot?

I can make applesauce in a crock pot, I was wondering if I could not feed children, too. Instead of boiling the pears and put them in the blender, I could put them in a crock pot and cook until they are boiled. Right? Anyone done this before? Any other food that might work?
