Is it possible to cook the tamales in a slow cooker?

Hello, I love cooking and try something diff. I mixed mushroom tamales as side dish for dinner tday. But I'd rather not go out and buy a pot sized colander insert and my grocery bill is already expensive for dinner. Also, I'll probably make tamales only about once a year and not space for storing large pots and pans. has anyone tried tamales cooking in a crockpot? how did you do? it is important to note that I do not want to make a pie Tamale, I'm single bullet wrapped tamales. Thank you!

Minty, I tried. I was not very happy with the result. I mine was vertical. I used the film where the tamales are fully closed, but opened up. Those around the edge were a bit dry. Those in the center were very well. If I ever do, I use the envelope that is like a bundle. With the two ends are closed. But I will not try again. I found my steamer hidden in a box in my storage shed.
